This 2-day course will discuss the imaging and clinical evaluation of thyroid and parathyroid disease. Faculty will discuss the application of neck sonography for evaluation of thyroid and parathyroid pathology and the assessment of the postoperative neck for thyroid cancer recurrence. Current surgical and medical management recommendations for nodular thyroid disease, thyroid carcinoma, and hyperparathyroidism will also be reviewed. Special topics to be discussed include the interpretation of fine-needle aspiration results, the diagnosis and management of small thyroid carcinomas, the approach to the multinodular gland, and the management of the nodule with nondiagnostic biopsy results. Ultrasound-guided interventional procedures will be illustrated, and the course will include live scanning of patient volunteers with thyroid and parathyroid disease and allow hands-on training.
