Purchasing a new US machine or any thing for that matter could prove to be tricky. The 1st very question you need to answer is ; how much is your budget" A cheap machine with good resolution is something like a dream which hardly comes by. One thing you should not compromise with is the resolution of the machine. The monitor should be reasonably large , other wise you will develop a crippling spondylosis due to posture. To start with, you need a machine with 3.5 mhz probe ( curvilinear ) & a high resolution probe ( say-07.5 mhz ) for small parts. If you do not have the money for the 7.5 mhz, you get a machine with a provision of adding a 2nd probe in the future when your see some earning & without a high resolution probe you feel very frusted when Doctors refer cases for small parts US.. Ther are many brand equipments in the market & you have to varify the resolution time & again before purchanging. Always purchase a good UPS device with the machine. By & large ,you may not go for Color Doppler in the beginning for a small centre, ; well if you have the resources -go for it. The operators must have proper training & exposure particularly for CDI, high resolution etc. Have a proper deed with the supplers for warranty, maintennance etc.If possible , have an insurance..
