Recently a study was requested for pain. An IUD was in place and had been for at least one year. No sonogram images of IUD position immediately post insertion for comparison; just string checks. It appeared to me that the caudal end of IUD was at the C-section scar. No perforation. The pain mentioned was related to IC; not constant.
Do you think the tip in that area could be a source of pain?
I am glad to hear this. It seemed to be a logical possibility to me and was dismissed by one of my physicians. I do not have the greatest equipment in the world, but I will try to upload some images. The angle of the uterus did not allow for a completely perpendicular position of the IUD to the probe, but I do have one image that shows the tip at the scar. I will be away from my office for the next several days but will try to upload images when I return.
Thank you for your reply, and I look forward to continuing this discussion!
