In this era of explosive use of radiation during interventional procedures,
I believe it is our duty to expand the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis
and treatment of our patients.
The use of IVUS in peripheral interventions is limited, at least for now.
I am fortunate to have a Volcano Unit and I see enormous potential for the
use of IVUS technology in the arterial and the venous system.
We are using the IVUS exclusively for IVC filters (single stick), and we
do all the measurements for EVAR with the IVUS.
Any other ideas?
My interventional procedures are limited with Core Biopsy of Prostate, Breast mass & other mass.
As well as prenatal procedures Amniocentesis, CVS , Cordocentasis etc.,
I know use of IVUS much more than this.
I agree with George Constantinopoulos - it is our duty to expand the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis
and treatment of our patients.
But how ? any suggestion?
Thanks.

Sir, basic thing is proper training especially for interventional sonography.

We know if any one is expert in performing Abscess drainage and other procerdures ;like FNACs as well cyst (female pelvivc) aspirations its help full for patient to save his/her time and resources both but the experties and proper equipment is must.

I perform all these procedures in my setup and Alhamdullih recurrence chances are less than open surgeries and all these procedures very less time taking for both patient as well as doctor.

Beside of such therapeutic use another is Ultrasound base lithotripter being use for the removel of renal, ureteric and vesical stones.
