There has been a huge interest in our ultrasound practice accreditation in MSK ultrasound...so much so that our volunteer MSK ultrasound case reviewers can't keep up with the number of cases being submitted.
When a practice applies for accreditation, it must submit 4 case studies (images and reports) for each specialty, and if the practice has more than one site, it must send in 1 case study from each additional site it would like to have accredited. The case studies are sent to two reviewers, and their results are consolidated and included in a findings letter to the practice. The findings letter is meant to be educational, and the practice has the opportunity to make changes and even, if necessary, submit new case studies.
At its meeting last month, the AIUM Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council recommended that I contact members of the MSK Ultrasound Community for volunteers to be case reviewers for us. The qualifications are as follows:
Our case reviewers are paid a small honorarium of $10 per specialty to review practices with 1-2 sites (ie, 4 to 5 case studies), and the honorarium increases when a reviewer accepts cases from practices with a greater number of sites.
Please contact me at pwoletz@aium.org if you are interested in helping us with this vital service.
Thanks!
Paula
