I recently received an email from ARDMS saying they are "registering MSK ultrasound" practices.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this outfit.
thanks!

thanks...do you have any insight as to why someone would choose to start certification with them rather then AIUM?

Permalink Reply by Paxton Holt Daniel on June 20, 2011 at 11:45pm Good question. Typically the ARDMS provides sub-specialty ultrasound credentialing for technologists and not doctors. I have not seen the specifics of their accreditation and I believe they are yet to be released. If they offer their credentialing to doctors it would add some hash on the end of M.D./D.O. to demonstrate baseline MSK proficiency (and a nice certificate of course).
Does the AIUM credential physicians or practices?

Permalink Reply by Paxton Holt Daniel on June 21, 2011 at 3:46pm AIUM accredits practices; we don't certify individuals. However, in order to become accredited, a practice must demonstrate (among other things) that the interpreting physicians for the practice meet AIUM training guidelines.

I have gone through the MSK notes by The Burwin institute of ultrasound-Canad.www.burwin.com
they are written in excellent way and are very helpfull for prep of MSK ARDMS certification.
