Every ultrasound specialty. One professional network.

I recently received an email from ARDMS saying they are "registering MSK ultrasound" practices.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this outfit.

thanks!

ARDMS is the standard ultrasound technologist credentialing entity. They are legitimate and I believe it may be useful to have technologists and physicians certified by them in MSK as a demonstration of baseline proficiency.

thanks...do you have any insight as to why someone would choose to start certification with them rather then AIUM?

Good question. Typically the ARDMS provides sub-specialty ultrasound credentialing for technologists and not doctors. I have not seen the specifics of their accreditation and I believe they are yet to be released. If they offer their credentialing to doctors it would add some hash on the end of M.D./D.O. to demonstrate baseline MSK proficiency (and a nice certificate of course).

Does the AIUM credential physicians or practices?

AIUM accredits practices; we don't certify individuals.  However, in order to become accredited, a practice must demonstrate (among other things) that the interpreting physicians for the practice meet AIUM training guidelines.

So for a physician who wants to have some quantifiable proof of MSK training/proficiency, the ARDMS certification may turn out to be of value.

I have gone through the MSK notes by The Burwin institute of ultrasound-Canad.www.burwin.com

they are written in excellent way and are very helpfull for prep of MSK ARDMS certification.
