Hello, all. Recently I had a study requested for pain. An IUD was in place, and had been for at least a year. No sonogram images of IUD location immediately post placement; just string checks. It appeared to me that the caudal end of the IUD was at the c-section scar. No perforation. The pain mentioned was related to IC; not constant. Do you think the tip in that area could be a source of pain?
Yes, Lisa, I too have had several IUD's that lodged into the csection scar. At our office, we automatically image a 3D multiplanar view on every endometrium. The C-coronal image on the multiplanar really demonstrates where exactly the IUD is located, better than a standard 2D imaged does.
