Every ultrasound specialty. One professional network.

Hello everyone,

I am a newly registered tech with limited on the field experience.  I volunteered after my internship.  have some teaching experience, but unfortunately no employer is taking that into consideration.  Would it be a good idea to invest in a portable and go from one doctor's office to another?  I know there are no benefits, but at least it is some sort of experience.  I do not see any way of getting the experience required if nobody is willing to give you a chance.

Thanks,
Corina

Dear Corina,
Please have patience; this is what life is about. Once , in the early part of my career, for some reasons, I wanted to shift to our capital city but no Clinic owners were helpful. It was frustrating. I stayed in my old town & gradually I got my confidence & establishment also.Yes, You can go for the venture & have some experience which will count in the future & also you can catch the eye of the establishments. Always have imagination. You must have a dream to fullfill. You must be eager, on the way, to learn. I know a few sonographers who do the same portable US in Dhaka & are doing well.. Initially you might face some bad episodes of encounter & some blues but do not lose your heart. Good luck.
Dear Corina
Dont loose heart, compressions comes after rarefaction-- why dont you try to have more experience in teaching with some school,if you can travel then go to needy world and teach them as professional ultrasound teacher. If you need i can guide you.
Corina, it is a great demand for sonographers. I would suggest that u get a job at a hospital. Doing mobile u/s u need yrs of experience. The drs depend on u. U might have 2 move 2 a different city/state.

It is difficult to start an ultrasound business if you do not have adequate ultrasound experience. If you can find a job at a hospital, or even a mobile company, you will probably get benefits. There are temporary placement companies that probably can offer a travel job or call job. While that is not always desirable, it can fill in the gap and you can get valuable experience.
This is the first time in 36 years in this field that I have heard of that a graduated ARDMS can't find a job. The hospital in my community can't even offer jobs to their own graduating students. Times are tough, even in health care.
While temporary jobs often require lots of experience, taking left overs such as call offers you an opportunity to get your foot in the door, then you will have to prove yourself to the radiologists that you have what it takes. Hopefully, you have found a position by now. Best Wishes!
