Definitely, the great advances in sonographic techonolgy as well as the high demand for highly skilled sonographers make imperative that whoever performs these exams become trained and credentialed in more than just one specialty. There is a need for more credentialed professionals and this include not only sonographers, but other health care professional who benefit from performing focused ultrasound in different specialties. Understanding the way diagnostic medical ultrasound works is extremely important in order to contribute effectively to a diagnosis avoiding to miss information and misleading. The current practice of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound demands extremely knowledgeable professionals with critical thingking and highly precise skills in the performance and production of useful sonographic images.
