Hi All,
Anyone out there have questions about integrating US into medical education? Anyone want to be more involved with the US in med ed web portal? Thoughts on how best to use this discussion board or other AIUM resources? I am interested in feedback- I will be speaking at AIUM on finding and organizing mentors locally and nationally. I know there are a lot of good ideas out there- ears wide open!

Hi All- I am part of the US in Med Ed web portal Dave and other have made available as a toolbox for getting US programs up and running in medical schools.  As part of the team I am interested in those out there who are having success and difficulties with medical school leadership re: curriculum integration.  I have been working with UC Davis SOM for over 2 years and there have been some successes and some failures but through persistence, advice from others, and recent work in the field we have made great strides.  I would like to get the discussion board going so those who have questions can ask them and those with experience can help advise.  Working as an AIUM team we can elevate this initiative to the next level.  Dave recently posted a great letter on nov 6th...see the discussion forum.  We are happy to hear what you all think.

Hi Colleagues,

There's a terrific Educator Summit coming up July 26-28. I've attended this event in the past (sponsored previously by Seattle University) and it's been a fabulous experience. Not just for educators but for all who want to learn more about advances in sonography, research and in education accross the globe.

Early Bird registration is only $300. Check out the details on http://ifser.squarespace.com/events/. You'll surely recognize some big names in sonography education and research.

What aspect of ultrasound would medical students find the most useful, do you think?

Definitely, the great advances in sonographic techonolgy as well as the high demand for highly skilled sonographers make imperative that whoever performs these exams become trained and credentialed in more than just one specialty. There is a need for more credentialed professionals and this include not only sonographers, but other health care professional who benefit from performing focused ultrasound in different specialties. Understanding the way diagnostic medical ultrasound works is extremely important in order to contribute effectively to a diagnosis avoiding to miss information and misleading. The current practice of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound demands extremely knowledgeable professionals with critical thingking and highly precise  skills in the performance and production of useful sonographic images.
