Filling the Bladder for Emergency room Pelvic ultrasounds

At your institutions/hospitals do you fill the patient's bladder prior to performing a pelvic ultrasound on Emergency Room patients?If yes, by what method do you fill the bladder?   By mouth (drinking water)?   By IV fluids?   By retrofilling a foley catheter?Do your ER docs/Radiologists think filling the bladder is necessary for ER patients?Do you do EV ultrasounds only on ER pelvic patients?I would appreciate any input.thank you,KW See More
